Cairo Day Tour by Plane in Dahab

The largest city in Africa, Cairo has been the centre of the region’s political and cultural life for centuries. It is a vast and compelling city of extremes, as comfortable with ancient traditions as it is with innovation. The headquarters of multinational companies sit only a few minutes away from coffee houses where men have congregated for centuries. It is a city that is proud of its historical past, but which is also working towards a better future. Cairo is a city like no other, and an essential destination if you’d like to learn more about the ‘real’ Egypt.

Egyptian Museum & Pyramids

No visit to Cairo is complete without a trip to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Founded in 1858 by French archaeologist, Auguste Mariette, the museum is home to some of the world’s most incredible treasures. Highlights include the dazzling Tutankhamun exhibits, which have to be seen to be believed, and the Mummy Room, with its precious human remains. The Pyramids were famous thousands of years ago and continue to awe visitors today: men fear time, but time fears the pyramids. A few minutes walk from the Great Pyramids is the Sphinx, with its lion’s body and human head.

Itinerary

Pick up at 3.30am (tbc), and drive to Sharm El Sheikh airport. Board one hour flight to Cairo and arrive early morning. Transfer from Cairo Airport to the Egyptian Museum. Mid morning we’ll travel to the Pyramids, with the Sphinx only a short distance away on foot. After lunch you have the afternoon free to shop and explore old Cairo. Early evening we’ll transfer to Cairo airport and fly back to Sharm El Sheikh, arriving at approximately 9pm, before driving back to Dahab.
